There's More to Beer Than Beer
Southeast Texans are invited to come find out why “there’s more to beer than beer” at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas’ (AMSET) annual fund-raising event the Art of Beer, from 6-10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16. The answer will be found in more beer brands and flavors to sample and learn about, plus cheese pairings, beer floats, a delicious dinner of German specialties and musical entertainment by JAG.
This foam-filled and adventurous fund-raising event will benefit AMSET’s exhibitions and education programs while taking the beer tasting idea to the next level.
“The Art of Beer is an opportunity for someone to break away from his or her tried and true brand time after time at the liquor store or at a restaurant,” said Art of Beer Chair and local beer guru Brandon East. “Beer is a fun, carbonated, food that deserves respect in the fridge and at the dinner table. Expanding one’s perception of food and beer will not only get you out of a gustatory rut but will guarantee to enhance life’s subtleties. Cheers!”
There are plenty of new additions to the Art of Beer 2008 that will have beer lovers and those new to the brew delighted just the same. The cheese bar will offer patrons the place to find the perfect pairings of many beers and cheeses. There will be plenty of information and guidance to help adventurous guests find the tastiest twosome for their palates. Another exciting new addition will be beer floats, a sweet seduction of ice cream paired with brew flavors.
This round of the Art of Beer will feature the return of local distributors Giglio and Del Papa, along with Saint Arnold Brewing Company, back by popular demand with their exciting assortments of beers for sampling.
The museum’s own Two Magnolias will be providing the delicious German-style dinner of brats, pretzels and flavorful sauces, potato salad, sauerkraut and much more to complement the array of brews. Providing the soundtrack for the foam-filled evening will be the band JAG (Just Another Group).
Even the Art of Beer logo emblazoned beer tasting mugs have been upgraded this year to a hefty 15-ounce size, and the first 150 people to make reservations will receive them.
Tickets to the Art of Beer are limited, so advance reservations are recommended. Tickets are $45 in advance or $50 the day of the event and can be purchased at 500 Main Street in downtown Beaumont or by calling (409) 832-3432.
Through unique collections, exhibitions, public programs and outreach in the visual arts, the mission of the Art Museum of Southeast Texas is to provide education, inspiration and creative vision throughout Southeast Texas.
