Boys Haven Crawfish Festival
by Anna Sites
Crawfish season is coming to an end, so there’s no better time to enjoy these succulent little critters than this Saturday at the 22nd Annual Boys Haven Crawfish and Music Festival at Ford Park from 11 am-10pm. Usually held on a Sunday, the festival will take place on a Saturday for the first time in order to allow more people to take part in the event. Even if 5,000 pounds of crawfish isn’t your idea of good eats, there will be food vendors selling BBQ, pork-a-bobs, funnel cakes, roasted corn and more. Bring the kiddoes out for the day and let the Hamshire-Fannett volunteer fire department teach them about fire safety. They can also enjoy other activities including face painting and wax hand molding. The proceeds from the latter also go to Boys Haven. There’ll be live music all day and the evening will bring a performance form our very own Zona Jones. Boys Haven has been helping area boys for over 60 years. The annual crawfish boil is their main fundraiser and the money earned goes directly towards their mission. Bring the family to Ford Park to enjoy some good food, hear some good music and help a good cause.
