More Donations?

Hurricanes bring on a plethra of concert benefits, donation drop-offs, collection buckets, and supply drives. Are you thinking to yourself, "if one more person asks me to donate something to somewhere, I'll scream!"?

Alas, we must ask. We are well aware that you've donated to this, that and the other after Hurricane Ike. We are well aware that the Christmas shopping season has arrived. We are well aware that the economy is in a slup. Despite all of those things, there are non-profit organizations in our area that need our help in order to aptly serve our community despite our recent hardships.

One of those organizations is called The Hope Resource Clinic. This clinic serves women facing crisis pregnancy. Many women that come to the clinic are considering abortion. The Hope Resource Clinic encourages women to keep their baby and stands as the mother's support system throughout her pregnancy.

The women that utilize The Hope Resource Clinic are able to shop in the "Blessings Boutique," a small shop filled with all sorts of baby, maternity and post-baby necessities. The Blessings Boutique does not charge the HRC moms to shop. However, the moms must attend parenting classes, read parenting books, enroll in school or attend church (to name a few) in exchange for the baby items.

Beaumontbuzz.com is hosting a (gulp) baby shower on November 21 from 12-6 pm at H-E-B on Dowlen Road. In addition to the shower, the Beaumont Police Department will be on hand to conduct child safety seat checks. We are making it easy peasy to donate items to the shower. All you have to do is drive up to our tent and we'll gladly take the gifts off your hands!

Questions...

  • Can I donate used items? Yes, gently used baby or maternity goods will be accepted, but new is prefered.
  • What items are needed most? The kind that can't be "gently used" such as diapers, diaper cream, formula, etc.
  • Can I donate money? Of course.
  • Can I write the donation off on my taxes? Yes. A representative from The Hope Resource Clinic will be on hand to give a tax receipt.

For more questions, email us. See you on November 21st!
