ISR Swim Lessons Now Available

By Ashley Behn

Wish your 6 month old knew how to swim? Believe it or not, it is possible for an infant to learn this invaluable lesson. ISR swim lessons have not been available in our area until now. Shelley Duke of Beaumont is currently training for her certification and is studying under a Master Instructor who is teaching lessons in January at the Wellness Center in Beaumont.

There are a few available spots to begin lessons next week. Children ages 6 months to 12 months are taught how to hold their breath under water, roll on to their back and float until help arrives. Children ages 1 year to 6 years old will learn how to hold their breath under water, swim head down, rest and breathe and then resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool to get out.

Children are actually taught swimming in different types of clothes so that they are able to swim no matter what they are wearing. The lessons are short, but are intense private lessons where much can be accomplished.
