Family Matters
By Ashley Behn
"I see broken people who are in anguish over their divorce and you are exactly what they need. … As you cross-examined me, I thought 'Wow, she did her homework.' Your sweet spirit, your clarity and your skills are tops and I personally thank you for helping the people…" – A note of appreciation to Sonya Coffman from a licensed professional counselor.
Roughly half of all Texas marriages end in divorce.* Many of you reading this fall within this statistic all too well. Others of you may not have walked that road, but you know someone who has. And yet still, there are those who may be dealing with other familial issues such as adoption, guardianship, child custody or child support.
We know you are reading this and wondering why such a loaded topic is on our “fun” website. While you may look to us for the latest happenings and business openings, you also look to us to make recommendations for area professionals and services. If you should find yourself needing legal counsel regarding family matters, we want to recommend Sonya Coffman of The Coffman Law Firm.
What we like most about Ms. Coffman is her balance between bearing a gentle disposition toward her clients in the office, and aggressively representing them in the courtroom. It’s kind of like having your best friend be a prize fighter. She might be the shoulder you cry on, but if you are on the opposing side, you can bet you’ll have a fight on your hands. The fight is not about producing a legal bloodbath, but rather, being passionate about doing what’s right.
Ms. Coffman received her law degree from the University of Texas in 1989. She has a broad business background, practiced as a CPA for an international accounting firm and worked as a stockbroker (read: she knows money). While not working, Ms. Coffman is active in our community and currently serves in leadership positions for several organizations, including the Symphony League of Beaumont, Netcasters Youth Ministries and Neches River Festival.
The Coffman Law Firm is located inside the First City Building
at 505 Orleans St., Suite 505 in
Beaumont.
Ms. Coffman can be reached at 409/ 833.7700, via email at scoffman@coffmanfamilylaw.com or online.
