The Beaumont CVB has compiled a list of the status of our area attractions & hotels. Note this list is long, so give your fingers a little scrolling exercise!

Post Ike Status Report for Beaumont, TX Attractions:
· Art Museum of Southeast Texas: The Art Museum of Southeast Texas suffered minor leaks as a result of vents being blown off the roof forcing wind driven rain into the building. However, no major damage was sustained due to Hurricane Ike. As of Monday, September 22, 2008 the museum opened for normal museum hours: Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sat, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sun, Noon – 5 p.m. The café, run by Two Magnolias, will reopen Monday, September 30th following the required health inspection. · Babe Didrikson Zaharias Museum: The Babe Didrikson Zaharias Museum received no damage due to Hurricane Ike. As of Tuesday, September 23, 2008 the museum reopened for normal museum hours: Daily, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (409) 833-4622
· Beaumont Botanical Gardens: The Beaumont Botanical Gardens was still without power as of Monday, September 22, 2008. The gardens will reopen once power is restored and any damages can be repaired. Bob Whitman, (409) 835-0644
· Beaumont Civic Center: The Beaumont Civic Center survived Hurricane Ike with no damages or water intrusion. As of Monday, September 22, 2008 the box office opened for normal hours: Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Claudie Hawkins (409) 838-3435, ext. 204.
· Chambers House Museum: The Chambers House survived Hurricane Ike with minor exterior damage to the house and no water intrusion. However, barring an official inspection of the property grounds and the replacement of museum collections that were removed for safety purposes, the museum will be closed until further notice. · Crockett Street Entertainment District: Crockett Street weathered Hurricane Ike without any major damage to its buildings. Details regarding the new tenants of Crockett Street will be announced shortly. Christina Delgadillo (409) 790-6101
· Eastex Canoes & Pineywoods Canoe Outfitters (Lumberton, TX): These businesses were still without power as of Saturday, September 20, 2008. The waterways were not affected to any large degree by Hurricane Ike and both companies plan to begin operations for the upcoming fall season as soon as power is restored. · Edison Museum: The Edison Museum was still closed as of Monday, September 22, 2008. More details regarding damages and reopening of the museum will be announced shortly. Melissa Phillips, (409) 981-3089
· Fire Museum of Texas: The Fire Museum of Texas received very minimal damage from Hurricane Ike with only a few windows cracked and no water intrusion. As of Monday, September 22, 2008 the museum opened for regular hours: Mon – Fri, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Sat by appointment. Carol Gary, (409) 880-3927
· Gator Country Adventure Park & Restaurant: Gator Country Adventure Park and Restaurant received minimal damage due to Hurricane Ike. Gary Saurage, co-owner, remained in town during Hurricane Ike to ensure no alligators were injured or lost as a result of fence damage. All fences at Gator Country that were damaged in the storm have been repaired and the restaurant received no damage. The park gift shop did suffer wind damage and will be replaced in the coming weeks. The park is open for normal hours: Tues-Sun, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. The restaurant is also open for normal hours: Sun – Thur, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.; Fri – Sat, 11 a.m. – 12 Midnight. *NOTE: During the storm, Gary and his dedicated staff dodged tornadoes and braved 100 mph wind gusts to make repairs and secure fences as they fell down. As a result, Gator Country is 100% operational and all alligators secure. In addition, after the storm Gary was also able to obtain permission from the State of Texas to catch and rescue 41 alligators along Crystal Beach and Galveston Island that were in danger due to conditions caused by Hurricane Ike. These alligators are currently at Gator Country where they can be properly cared for until further direction from Texas Parks & Wildlife.

· Jefferson Theatre: The Jefferson Theatre survived Hurricane Ike with no damage or water intrusion. The theatre will move forward with performances as scheduled unless announced otherwise. · John Jay French House Museum: The John Jay French House did not receive any damage to the buildings due to Hurricane Ike; however, several large trees on the property have fallen causing the grounds to be impassible. As of Monday, September 22, 2008 the property was still without power. Until the grounds can be cleaned up and the power restored, the museum will be closed until further notice. · Julie Rogers Theatre: The Julie Rogers Theatre survived Hurricane Ike with no damages or water intrusion. The theatre will move forward with performances as scheduled unless announced otherwise. · McFaddin-Ward House: The McFaddin-Ward House had power restored as of Monday, September 22, 2008 and staff is currently in the process of assessing damage to the property. More details will be announced shortly. Donda Thomasson (409) 832-1906
· Spindletop/Gladys City Boomtown Museum: Spindletop/Gladys City Boomtown Museum was still closed as of Monday, September 22, 2008. More details regarding damages and reopening of the museum will be announced shortly. Christy Marino (409) 835-0823
· St. Anthony’s Cathedral Basilica: The Basilica did sustain some damage to its dome as well as water damage to a few interior walls. They are currently not having mass inside the church, nor are they open for tours. As soon as the building can be inspected, there will be a decision made regarding the timeline for the church to reopen for tours and regular services following repairs. · Texas Energy Museum: The Texas Energy Museum survived Hurricane Ike with no damage or water intrusion. Power was restored Monday, September 15, 2008. · Hampton Inn: As of Tuesday, September 23, 2008 the Beaumont CVB was unable to contact Hampton Inn. It has not yet been determined when details will be announced for the property regarding damages or room availability. (409) 840-9922
· Hilton Garden Inn: Minor damages to the hotel. No vacancy until January 1, 2009. (409) 842-5646
· Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Beaumont Plaza: Some damage to the 8th floor, causing a few sleeping rooms to be unavailable at this time. The hotel also sustained some damage to one of the its meeting rooms. Repairs are currently in progress. Damaged guest rooms are expected to be fixed within the next few weeks while the damaged meeting room will be operational within the next two months. As of Monday, September 22, 2008 the hotel is only accepting reservations for employees of FEMA, insurance agencies, Entergy and other emergency workers. (409) 842-5995
· Holiday Inn Midtown: Minor damages to a few guest sleeping rooms. No vacancy until October 8, 2008. The hotel is not accepting FEMA at this time. (409) 892-2222

· Buu Mon Buddhist Temple & Lotus Gardens: The Buu Mon Buddhist Temple survived Hurricane Ike with no major damages due to wind or water intrusion. Beginning Monday, September 22, 2008 the Temple was open and had power restored. (409) 982-9319 or (409) 982-9919
· Museum of the Gulf Coast: The Museum of the Gulf Coast survived Hurricane Ike with some minor wind and water damage. However, none of the museum’s collection was lost or damaged. It has not yet been determined when the museum will resume normal business hours. Shannon Harris, (409) 984-6444
· Pompeiian Villa: As of Tuesday, September 23, 2008 the Beaumont CVB was unable to contact a representative of the Pompeiian Villa. It has not yet been determined when details will be announced for the property regarding damages or reopening date. (409) 983-5977
· Rose Hill Manor: Rose Hill Manor sustained heavy damage as a result of Hurricane Ike. A floor of the house collapsed and there was severe water damage. A full assessment of the damage remains to be determined. A re-opening date for the home has not been decided. (409) 985-7292
· Sabine Pass Battleground State Historical Park: Sabine Pass Battleground State Historical Park sustained heavy damage due to flooding caused by Hurricane Ike. A full assessment of the damage remains to be determined. No re-opening date has been decided at this time. (512) 463-6323
· Sea Rim State Park: Sea Rim State Park was heavily damaged by the floodwaters of Hurricane Ike. The park will remain closed until further notice. (409) 971-2559
· Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe: As of Tuesday, September 23, 2008 the Beaumont CVB was unable to contact a representative of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It has not yet been determined when details will be announced for the property regarding damages. (409) 962-6777

Following are the official statements from Orange, TX attractions:
· Shangri La Botanical Gardens & Nature Center (Orange, TX): Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center survived Hurricane Ike with what appears to be minimal structural damage. Although its buildings remain intact, Shangri La did experience considerable flooding throughout the gardens, nature center, outpost and bayou areas, which resulted in water intrusion to various structures. Shangri La will remain closed to the public until such time as city services resume, power is restored and recovery and restoration efforts are completed throughout Shangri La. · Stark Museum of Art: The Stark Museum of Art survived Hurricane Ike with no damage or water intrusion. The Stark Museum and its collections remain in excellent condition despite the effects of Hurricane Ike upon the City of Orange, where the museum is located. Although the City of Orange experienced flooding from the hurricane, the floodwaters did not enter the Museum. While electricity has not yet been restored to the city, the Stark Museum of Art has been and continues to maintain climate control through power from its generator. Sarah Boehme, (409) 883-6661
· W.H. Stark House (Orange, TX): The W.H. Stark House survived Hurricane Ike with little damage or water intrusion to its interior. While the basement of the Stark House was partially flooded, water did not enter the main House. The Stark House is safe and its contents and collections remain in excellent condition. The Carriage House of the Stark House experienced water intrusion of less than 18 inches that resulted in minor damage to a portion of the collections on its lower level. *NOTE: Because of the extensive damage throughout the City of Orange and the lack of city services as a result of Hurricane Ike, all events that were previously slated to be held at Shangri La, the W.H. Stark House and the Stark Museum of Art will be canceled until further notice, including the Beat the Heat lecture series, the upcoming Fall Festival, the Stark House presentation of "Oh Papa!" Miriam and Carrie Lutcher in the Timber Forests, and the upcoming seasonal exhibits. This also includes all events sponsored by all properties. In addition, all group tours and school field trips scheduled for the months of September and October are hereby cancelled, with scheduling for subsequent months to be determined as additional information becomes available. Resumption of operations will depend entirely on the ultimate assessment of damages and subsequent recovery efforts, which remain to be determined.
