21st: Community wide baby shower benefiting the Hope Center, hosted by beaumontbuzz. Bring your donated baby items to HEB on Dowlen Rd. from noon- 6pm.

5th: Mamie McFaddin Ward’s Birthday 10:00 a.m.-3:00p.m.pm, last tour leaves at 3:00 p.m.pm. In honor of Mamie McFaddin Ward’s birthday, visitors will be able to tour the house for free. The Birthday Tea to be presented by the Lamar Institute Restaurant and Institutional Food Management students who have researched the history and customs of serving tea. Call (409) 832-2134 to make reservations for tours. Start at the McFaddin-Ward House Visitor Center, 1906 Calder Avenue at Third Street. Free Event.

9th & 16th: Christmas Card Opportunity: 1:00-3:45 p.m.
The Christmas Card Photo Opportunity returns for the friends and volunteers of the McFaddin-Ward House. On the two Sundays of November 9 and 16, 1:00-3:35 p.m., small groups or individuals may pose on the home’s grand staircase, decked in Christmas cheer, for their Holiday cards. Remember to bring your own cameras and only amateur photography permitted. The significance of the season is the motive for this to be the museum’s gift to southeast Texas. As such, there is no charge. Register at the visitor center at 1906 Calder Avenue at Third Street before coming to the house.

15th: Free Prostate Cancer Screening at North Orange Baptist Church (4775 16th Street) from 9-11am. The "Gift of Life" Program provides free prostate cancer screenings for men without medical insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, or are underinsured, who are at least 45 years of age or 40 if the applicant is an African American or has a family history of prostate cancer. Without the provision of these free screenings, so many of the medically underserved men our area would go without these lifesaving screenings. 17th: Inspire, Encourage, Achieve/Ben’s Kids is planning its Inaugural Golf Tournament for Monday, November 17, 2008 at Brentwood Country Club. There are two flights scheduled; 7:00 a.m. and 12 noon. The program expects a highly successful and well-attended tournament.
Famous athletes, including Jay Bruce, Kevin Everett, Jim Gilligan, Mark Petkovsek, Brian Sanchez, Jason Tyner, Morgan Walker, and Ben Weber, are expected to play. Registration info can be found at www.ieainspires.org.

20th: The Lydia Group will meet Thursday, Nov. 20th at 7:00 p.m. at the Magnolia Place Banquet Room, 1720 Magnolia in Port Neches. The Lydia Group is a group of Christian women business owners from across the area that meet to discuss practical help to everyday challenges that come with being a business owner. It's a meeting of encouragement, challenge, networking, and fellowship.
